A Little Bit Addicted To Calligraphy Books

So I have a small but growing library of lettering books.  I'm actually fairly controlled in my buying of them but that doesn't mean that there aren't lots in my Amazon wishlist!

This post isn't meant to be a review of any of my calligraphy books.  I love them all for what they have added to my journey of learning lettering.  And they are all simply beautiful books which take pride of place on my bookshelf.  Just the gorgeous front covers are reason enough for them to be on any self respecting bookshelf!

My Lettering Love

In September 2016 I took a half day brush lettering course with Betty Etiquette at Hero in Stockbridge. Before I went along I didn't think I would be any good at it but who doesn't love a course and a few hours doing something new?!  The lettering we did was using a fine paintbrush and ink, and I wasn't very good really.  But then none of us were because we were absolute beginners and that is the point with lettering - it's not an overnight thing.  It's fair to say I came away a little bit hooked.

Launching this business - learning a lesson or two

Quite unlike me, I built up to launching Bloom Lettering in a very ordered and pretty structured way.  Usually, and what I've done in the past, is to rush head long into launching a website with no real plan. This time it has had to be different - yes, I could have published a website three months ago but it would have been completely empty!  I literally had nothing ready.  As a consequence I've realised a few things and accepting them has made the whole process much less painful.
